Free Workshop | En Plein Air Painting with Gouache with Artist in Residence, Katie Deits

**This workshop will be held on-location for a true plein air experience, not in the studio. Workshop size is limited to 10 participants. Please use the registration link to reserve your spot for this free workshop.**

Discover the joy of painting outdoors while learning essential art fundamentals in this inspiring plein air class. “En plein air”—the French term for painting in the open air—invites you to immerse yourself in nature and observe the landscape with an artist’s eye.

We’ll paint from life using gouache, a versatile medium that blends the luminous qualities of watercolor with the opacity of oil, yet is easy to use and beginner-friendly. You’ll learn how to see and simplify shapes, mix colors effectively, and apply the value scale to bring depth and light into your work.

Whether you're new to painting or looking to deepen your skills, this class will nurture both your technique and your creative spirit while enjoying the fresh air and beauty around you.

Students will need to bring something to sit on and are recommended to wear a hat and other sun protection as this will be an outdoors activity.

Katie Deits is a seasoned artist who has spent a lifetime studying art history, painting, sculpture, and photography.
